Concrete Geode

Concrete Geode is a project exploring concepts of fragility and decay through the medium of concrete. The geode acts as a vessel that holds a crystalized interior. The vessel aims to highlight the significance of preservation through a ceremony of breaking. 

The geode is constructed using a two-part mold, one that provides the outer concrete shell and an inner mold that is used to sculpt rocks, crystals and salts. A series of different concrete mixes and methods were prototyped to investigate the craft and bind of the two materials. The vessel aims to highlight the significance of preservation through a ceremony of breaking.
